CBC Reads the Word

Engaging daily with God through His Word is one of the most powerful ways He transforms us into the image of Christ. Bible reading in “community” with others provides the support and encouragement most of us need to form healthy patterns of Bible engagement and prayer.
To accomplish the goal of reading through both testaments, together as a community, we have planned 1,000 weekday (Monday – Friday) readings of approximately 25 verses each day, to complete all 39 books of the Old Testament in 2025.
Each book in the Old Testament will be listed as a series, as some books will be read with Psalms and Proverbs intermixed chronologically, as well as overlapping accounts which occur in several Old Testament books.  A one-week rest period between series will be observed to give time for deeper reflection, prayer and meditation on what God has revealed and we have discovered in each book.
Having completed the whole New Testament, as well as the Old Testament Books of Genesis through the book of 1 Samuel, Connected Community is now reading the book of 2 Samuel.

In addition to continuing our reading of the Old Testament books, we have dedicated each Wednesday’s Bible Reading and Prayer Plan to focusing on prayer for our new Sr. Pastor, John Richard, and his family as they transition into full-time ministry in Northern Virginia!

If you would like to join us in praying for Pastor John and the church, you can access the Transitions and New Beginnings Prayer Guide.
Consider joining with the CBC Connected Community Ministry each weekday morning via Zoom for a real-time shared reading of the day’s selection, open reflection, praise and prayer.  We begin promptly at 7:00 a.m. and end promptly at 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.  (See Member Resource section for details and Zoom link/Meeting ID and Pass code.)
