CBC Reads the Word

Engaging daily with God through His Word is one of the most powerful ways He transforms us into the image of Christ. Bible reading in “community” with others provides the support and encouragement most of us need to form healthy patterns of Bible engagement and prayer.

Having just completed the Book of Job series most recently, CBC will continue engaging together in God’s Word as we begin to read through the Book of Exodus series this Fall and into the Winter of 2022.  In observance of Christmas we will take a two week break from Exodus to focus on Scriptures that highlight Christ’s birth and incarnation.

To accomplish our ultimate goal of reading through both testaments, together as a community, we have planned 1,000 weekday (Monday – Friday) readings of approximately 25 verses each day, to complete all 39 books of the Old Testament by 2025.

Each book in the Old Testament will be listed as a series, as some books will be read with Psalms and Proverbs intermixed chronologically, as well as overlapping accounts which occur in several Old Testament books.  A one-week rest period between series will be observed to give time for deeper reflection, prayer and meditation on what God has revealed and we have discovered in each book.

Consider joining with the CBC Connected Community Ministry each weekday morning via Zoom for a real-time shared reading of the day’s selection, open reflection, praise and prayer.  We begin promptly at 7:00 a.m. and end promptly at 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.  (See Member Resource section for details and Zoom link/Meeting ID and Pass code.)
