Pastor GeorgiyCBC’s oldest missons partnership is with Pastor Georgiy and the Church of Christ the Savior in Kirovogard, Ukraine. Preferring to begin and develop relationships in the missions field rather than just cutting checks, we asked SEND International in 1995 to suggest possible mission opportunities overseas, and they in turn put us in touch with Pastor Georgiy Doroshenko, who had been leading a house church in Kirovograd since 1992. SEND assisted us in planning our first ever short-term missions trip in 1996, which included six adults (and one toddler), along with assisting us with our second trip of about 12 people in 1998.

As a result of the Soviet legacy of promoting atheism, few churches are advancing the gospel in the Ukraine. The Church of Christ the Savior finished the construction of its building in 1997, and has since planted 12 sister churches in the area.  In addition to proclaiming the gospel, the Church of Christ the Savior also supports local orphanages and a home for pregnant women who are considering placing their babies up for adoption.
